Neighborhood Housing Services of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Inc. (NHSBS) is a non-profit organization committed to empowering the Brooklyn community through education and counseling toward financial stability and successful long-term home ownership. By providing thoughtful guidance in home ownership, foreclosure intervention, home maintenance, rental housing, and financial literacy for youth and adults, NHSBS helps to equip our neighbors for a promising and more resilient future. NHSBS GRANT FUNDS
HOME Local Grant Program
Neighborhood Housing Services of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Inc. (NHSBS), through funding from the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation (HTFC) Office of Community Renewal (OCR) will provide ‘Conditional Grants’ to qualified, first-time homebuyers, currently residing anywhere within Community Districts 3, 4, 5, 8 and 16, toward Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance in the purchase of a Cooperative or Condominium anywhere within the borough of Brooklyn. Grant awards up to $32,800.00. Qualified applicants must meet the household size, income, and asset guidelines(See application HERE).
AHC Acquisition & Rehabilitation Grant Program
The New York State Affordable Housing Corporation (NYSAHC) has awarded Neighborhood Housing Services of NYC, Inc.(NHSNYC), on behalf of Neighborhood Housing Services of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Inc. (NHSBS) $300,000 to implement an Acquisition & Rehabilitation-Owner Occupied Program. The program will be monitored by the NY State Homes and Community renewal (HCR). NHSBS will provide 10‘conditional’ grants up to $27,000 each, to first-time homebuyers, for the purpose of assisting them with down-payment and/or closing cost assistance and home rehabilitation:(a requirement of 51% of the grant must be used toward the rehabilitation of the property). Ten percent preference will be given to seniors, age 62 years and older and single female-headed households. If selected, you will be notified via mail with a log number, list of required documents and appointment date and time to meet with your HUD-Certified Homeownership Counselor. Qualified properties include 1-2 family homes and condominiums in the borough of Brooklyn. Qualified applicants must meet the household size, income, and asset guidelines(See application HERE).
